Montreal City Councillor Fails to respect subpoena!

Plateau Borough councillor Eleni Lily Fakotakis Kolaitis Failed to respect a subpoena compelling her to testify in the matter of Ville de Montreal - vs - 9182-5927 Quebec Inc. Charged with failing to maintain The weeds around a city of Montreal Tree at a length no longer than 20cm.

No reasons were given for Mme. Eleni Lily Fakotakis Kolaitis failure to appear as order by the subpoena.

Maybe Mme. Eleni Fakotakis Kolaitis (lily) has something to hide? Maybe Mme. Fakotakis is too embarrassed to reveal that she has absolutely no idea what she is talking about when it comes to city matters and is too incompetent to hold the position she does!!

MORE DETAILS TO COME SOON!!

New Snow Czar Luis Maranda is already Failing!!

Hello Again!
Been A while....

So i was making a few deliveries today....from the north end of Park Avenue to Atwater and Maissonneauve. So I take Park Avenue south, hang a right at the Pine/Park interchange and climb Pine Avenue Headed to Cote des Neiges and down to Atwater.

This Trip entails many up an down roads, but is the fastest and most efficient way to get to my destination....USUALLY! But today we happened to have a snow storm going on.....20cms!!

I noticed something very disturbing....there were many cars and trucks slipping and sliding all along the route I took, not being able to get any sort of traction going up the hills or down Atwater (from Sacred Heart School) all the way to Dawson College.

There was No abrassives what-so-ever spread on the roads....NONE AT ALL!! The snow had not been plowed to the side AT ALL! It was a huge mess causing severe traffic delays....A trip that usually take 8 to 12 minutes took me 3 times as long!

The new city snow Czar, Luis Maranda, Has failed his first test!

Or has he?

Is he maybe just following new city protocol when it comes to snow clearing?
Is it maybe that the city is no longer using Abbrassives city roads? It sure seesms that way...My entire trip to and back was slippery and chaotic!

Could this be why the province frced us to install winter tires on our cars? Is this part of the master plan to save money? Is this how they are going to be managing our tax dollars?

I can only imagine what the roads were going to be like if the mandatory Winter tire laws didn't exist today.

To recap:
We are forced to spend a load of money in a recession type time for new winter tires.
We pay taxes to the city for services that include snow clearing and providing us with safe and passable streets.

But we do not have safe streets...no abbrassives....and no safe sidewalks.....but we have winter tires....

The governments take our money via taxes, reduce our services, and always seem to be in financial distress....and should we happen to get hurt on our unsafe streets or sidewalks....we have to spend hours if not days in a hospital emergency room waiting to get treated.....

SO what's going on here?
Why are we being played?

As I always say...Governments enact laws and bylaws in ways that the citizen will at some point absolutely violate these laws and the government will make money on fines and penalties....

Let's wake up!

10 Questions for Mayor Tremblay.

Tomorrow between 8 and 9am Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay will be a guest of Andrew Carter on CJAD. He will be taking listners calls, and I have a list of questions he needs to be asked. The number to call is 514-790-0991. Call him up and ask any of the following questions! I know I will....

1) What Control do you have over the city's Boroughs and Their Mayors? Why not have a more centralised system?

(ok..two questions in one....)

2) WHy do you insist on keeping a borough mayor in your Party when they have neglected their role in the borough, have neglected the borough and have no intention in keeping any promises?

3) The new emergency snow cleaning program designed and to be implemented by your brother shows that a more centralised City administration works better than a decentralised borough system. Why not centralise the entire city administrations and get rid of the boroughs and borough mayors?

4) Why do the boroughs have city council reps who are paid close to 30K a year and have no vote on council and (in the case of Mile-end) do nothing?

5) Can you please fire the city'sublic works/infrastructure construction planner? He or she did a terrible job of planning the construction projects in the city this spring summer and upcoming fall.

6) DO you deny that most of the city's by-laws have been designed in a way that they are an indirect tax, making the population pay for violating these bylaws on a whim, without them even realising that there was even a bylaw to break?

7) DO you agree that the de maisonneuve Bike Path was a huge mistake and a complete waste of money?

8) Do you agree with the idea of delaying the municipal elections by two years so that they line up with the school board elections and can be held at the same time? (two more years of this administration?....please no!)

9) Now that property values are on the way down due to a correction in the housing market, will the city redo the property evaluations (downward) to reflect the new reality, or will it continue with the new evaluations created when the housing market was hot, thereby proving once again that everything the city omes up with to generate money for roads? water? etc? is actually a tax grab?

10) DO you agree that Mr. Andrew Carter is in line for an award for having rallied the city to vote and get Montreal the coveted Boardwalk Position on the World Monopoly Edition coming out soon!

Make sure you call!
And come up with your own follow up questions!

And make the Mayor sweat!

Have Fun!!

truth and rumours

I've been hearing many things from various people, In high places and low....
I'm in the proccess of filtering out the truth from the rumours, and to see how they might all affect the future of the plateau borough, the hellenisation of Park Avenue and many other things...
Many higher ups seem to be very annoyed with other higher ups (slightly lower) because of poor performances, decisions and many complaints from the plebes....

Good things may be afoot...

Stay tuned...

Get ready for a long and from the looks of it, a boring federal campaign...green shift this tax cut that....in afganistan...out of it...all bullshit....we'll be drowning in it.....to go along with the bullshit we're drowning in already....

How's the economy? Really....

Have a good weak-end!

Dirty streets (The Gazette, 02 Sep 2008, Page A14)

Dirty streets
Maria Morin Point St. Charles
The Gazette
02 Sep 2008

It irks me no end as I drive through the southwest part of the city to see the decrepit condition of our sidewalks, streets and public areas. It’s all very well for the city to plant trees, but then it allows weeds to grow and overtake the saplings,...read more...

Quote.....

I recently came by a webpage by one of my favourite Politicians In The Plateau Mont Royal Borough. She had a very intersting quote on this webpage (starts with F) that I thought I should share with you.
Here is the quote:

"Never explain - your friends do not need it, and your enemies will not believe it anyway"

I found this very interesting. It shows just how much this politician is out of touch with her constituents and how little she cares about them and the district she represents.
It's a quote like this that reflects the poor state of the district she represents.

When you are an elected public figure, when your salary is being paid by the public, who's taxes fund your pointless position, you have an obligation to explain your actions!

You have an obligation to your constituents to EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE INCOMPETENT!
Why the district you represent has fallen into disrepair, poor roads, unenforced bylaws (except the ones that generate cash ie-uncut weeds around city trees, parking meters).
Why several if not all promises made have been broken.
Why you insult your constituents when they ask why you are doing your job poorly!

When my tax money pays for your salary that feeds your kids (isn't that a good reason to run for public office?) you need to explain to me why it is being mismanaged...and explained clearly....and if the explanations are not satisfactory, you should resign!!!

That quote needs to be modified to

"I must always explain myself, because I am accountable to thousands, friends and enemies, whose money keep my family fed!"

But maybe the job will not be there in a little over a year.....It shouldn't really.

Too Much Parking on Park Avenue!

Something that is very much a concern, more than the high price of the new fancy parking meters we have on Park Avenue (or because of them) is that there is an abundance of parking on Park Avenue!
There are only a half dozen cars parked between bernard and van horne in the middle of a beautiful saturday! on either side of the street!

Where is everone?

It's like this almost every day!
It's doing wonders for business here....The borough administration should maybe worry less about funddraising via tax grab designed bylaws they are overzealously enforcing on the merchants and borough owners of the street and worry about why their beautifucation of Park Avenue they made in the spring didn't happen, and if this is maybe a reason that there are so many parking spaces.

MAybe Helene Fotopoulos and Eleni Fakotakis and labraque etc should worry about revitilising the Park Avenue, instead of punishing it continuously!

DO they even care?
WHy is the mayor's brother more interested in what goes in here than the borough mayor and her cronnies are?
Don't they love us?

On a positive note,....the street is full of students back for school....a sight for sore eyes!
Have a good semester kiddies!
